Can i get highlights after dyeing my hair at home?

i've been dyeing my hair auburn for 5-6 years (i'm a natural brunette). since, by now, i'm very good at dyeing my hair at home, i'm thinking of taking my red color up one or two shades and going to a hair salon for lighter highlights directly afterward.





if i've just used store-bought dye (like l'oreal or feria) at home, will salon highlights not show up as well? will they turn out strangely? any input would be helpful.Can i get highlights after dyeing my hair at home?
Leah depending on the condition of your hair, they can probably do the highlights safely the first time. However, when you need a touch-up you cant just color over the highlights and then re-bleach the same hairs over and over again. So, to maintain the integrity of the hair, touch-ups will need to be done at the salon. That way they can do the foils and then apply the base color around the foils.
