How do I streak/highlight my hair at home?

This weekend I plan on streaking my hair but, I wanted to know what precautions I should take.Most of all how do I do it?

Anyways how do I do it and keep it healthy and stuff? the color I'm getting is blonde if that's important as well.How do I streak/highlight my hair at home?
