How do your feel about doing at home hair highlights from experience?

I am thinking about highlighting my hair this summer (tomorrows the last day of school) and I want to do a at home box highlighting. I never have colored my hair but my mom does my brothers with box dye all over and it doesnt seem that hard and I think I can do it. Afterall, I'm not dumb and kinda work with my hair. But what is your experience with box dye? Would you recommend using it and what brand? How do your feel about doing at home hair highlights from experience?
I only do my own hair and have for many years. Yes they do good at a salon, but like you, I can do the same as they can. I have highlighted my own hair many times. I have also used many different products. The one I prefer is La Petite Frosting Kit. It is the only one that really lightens my hair the color I want. It is not as harsh as the others either. It comes with everything you need to lighten your hair. Dont go pay a high price at the salon when you can do it yourself for sooooo much less. Good luck , and I think you will and can do a very good job highlighten your hair. How do your feel about doing at home hair highlights from experience?
I've done quite a few at-home ones, and all of them but one I did myself. The best one I had was the one I had done by a friend who did stuff to her hair all the time. I think if you're going to do it, definitely have someone else do it, and for the first time, do a color that's not too far off your natural color, just in case it gets messed up! But if it turns out good, it will look subtle, but natural.
Ive tried the do it yourself highlights and from experience, it took me forever and the results I wanted sucked! The highlights never showed up and what did end up showing up were tiny globs that vanished the next day in the shower...trust me, you'll get your moneys worth by getting it professionally done and it lasts wayyy longer.
DO NOT DO IT. seriously step away from the box. Highlights should only be done by professionals. trust me, if you ignore this you will end up paying for the pro highlights and the cost of fixing your ruined hair.
