I am BROKE. I usually get my hair highlighted at Aveda. Any At-Home highlight Suggestions?

I have naturally dark blonde hair that I get highlighted to a nice medium honey color. I generally go about 2.5 months between highlights before my roots begin to look weird (as they do right now!).

My colorist is AMAZING, but she is also very expensive. I've used L'Oreal Hi-Stylist highlights before in Golden Honey and have had great results with it - they turn my hair the color I want. My only question is, without going to my colorist (who does base-breaks on my hair too), will the at-home highlights really do anything to help with blending my roots?

I'm considering going in to see my colorist this month to get her to give me all-over low-lights, or a blending glaze or something, and then doing it myself from there. I don't want to create a mess that's more expensive to fix...BUT, I am REALLY low on cash right now.

Any suggestions?

Go to a beauty supply store such as Sally's and get a cap to pull the hair through. Buy the L'Oreal and ask a friend to pull your hair through the cap for you.I am BROKE. I usually get my hair highlighted at Aveda. Any At-Home highlight Suggestions?
