Can I color my hair at home after getting highlights at a salon?

I recently decided to change my light-to-medium brown hair to light golden blonde. When I went to have it professionally dyed, my stylist convinced me to get heavy blonde highlights all-over even though I really wanted to go all out and have blonde roots too. I really like my blonde highlights, but I'm still wanting all of my hair to be blonde. So, can I buy some DIY hair color (light blonde) and color all of my hair even though I already have heavy blonde highlights? If so, what brands and/or treatment would you recommend? If not, why is it a bad idea? Thanks for the advice! Can I color my hair at home after getting highlights at a salon?
Of course you can.

If you do that, It will look as if you have natural highlights through your hair. And it will look WAY pretty! And brand will do, Just look for something that has deep conditioners in it to keep the already blonde in your hair healthy like the rest of your hair!

Definately a smart move!

i would wait a day. all those chemicals on your hair could cause for some serious damage....you should have gottne it colored and highlighted at the salon that you went to!...if you color it now, then you hair will become weak and break off very easily...you definently don't want that. so for you hair's sake, don't color it now....maybe on wednesday! lol.
You can but I would wait a few weeks otherwise you're gonna FRY your hair... But if you don't mind damaged hair, yes you can. Just keep an eye on the strands you had highlighted.. If they turn to mush, you're in trouble.
hey, yeh yu cud but the parts that yu had streaked are gonna be abit of a diffrent cula so yull still kinda have streaky bits, i would leave it awhile they du take tym to get used too but if yu dnt lyk it after get it dyed
You could do that, but the previously lightened pieces will be much lighter than the rest, so you will still have some difference in color.
